I’ve received the invitation to create a self-custody wallet on Brave on my computer and mobile.
I’ve created the wallet on the computer and saved the 12 word passwords. After a couple of attempts I was able to connect my Brave Reward Account with the new Solana address created with the Brave Wallet (I’ve got errors a couple of times).
Now I want to connect the Brave Rewards from my mobile to the existing Brave Wallet created on the computer. On the mobile I go to Select a Solana wallet to connect > Brave Wallet Connect (self-custody) > then:
if I don’t do anything and click on “add”, there’s an error “Account name can’t be empty”, even though in the name field there’s the name “Solana Account 1”;
if I import the private key (no matter if the 12 words or the private key string pasted); it says “Failed to import account, please try again”.
In the importing field, as an option to import the wallet, it says “private key string FILE”, however I don’t know how to create that, I don’t see any option in the Brave Wallet
This “export” option only gives you the private key as a string to copy and paste and that doesn’t work when importing the wallet on the mobile device. There’s no option to export the private key as a file.
If you’re trying to restore an entire wallet, and not just a single address, you’ll need the recovery phrase. That can be found under the Back Up Now option.
No, I’m trying to import only one wallet (solana) to get the Brave rewards of PC and mobile on the same address.
When you use the “export” you can copy the private key which is a string. I then import that string on my mobile, and when on the mobile I click “connect” I was only offered to paste the private key or to import the key with a file.
Now I restarted the phone and when importing the wallet on mobile, it is asking me the recovery phrase, which it didn’t before.
Basically, you first need to import the wallet on mobile (going to settings > wallet > import > passphrase) and only after, connect the wallet with brave rewards.
