Brave v118.1.59.117 crashed on startup, closed immediately

Download and install new copy of Brave, click on the desktop Brave icon generated, the startup shown the Brave browser, immediately the browser closed. I have uninstalled and re-installed Brave, problem still persists.

1. Download Brave and double click the application to install.
2. After installed, double click the Brave icon to run.
3. The Brave Browser shown up and immediately closed.

Expected result:
The Brave browser should not close immediately.

Brave Version( check About Brave):
v118.1.59.117

Guess big question is if you are using vertical tabs? If so, that’s your answer

1. There is no “extensions” folder under C:\Users\xxx xxx\AppData\Local\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Default only folders below and no .JSON file.

2. The is “Extensions” folder and .JSON file under:

C:\Program Files\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\Application\118.1.59.117\Extensions>notepad external_extensions.json

but the content is empty like below:

// This json file will contain a list of extensions that will be included
// in the installer.

3. I launched from command line under administrator with the following method below, but Brave browser still closed immediately.

C:\Program Files\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\Application>brave  --enable-logging=stderr --disable-features=BraveVerticalTab

and results in messages below:

I have configured the Windows Antivirus and Firewall to exclude the followings:

"C:\Program Files\BraveSoftware\"
"C:\Program Files\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\Application\brave.exe"

I also installed the Brave version from Microsoft Windows Store, but resulted in the same crash on startup problem.

However, I specified the parameter --user-dir=C:\Users\Ricky Gai.… without putting the double quotation mark “”, the Brave browser shown up and no crashed but prompting the profile path error, then I can navigate the Brave://setting but after I put back the “”, same problem happened again, closed on startup.

I believed the close on startup problem is related to user profile.

Please advise.

Just downloaded the latest version of Brave:

Brave Version 1.59.120 Chromium: 118.0.5993.88 (Official Build) (64-bit)

It is working properly, no crash now. Thank you.
