Description of the issue: How can this issue be reproduced?
Start Brave and Gnome’s Evolution
Try to enter URL
Expected result:
If Gnome’s Evolution email client is running, attempting to put in a URL locks Brave up hard for a few seconds. At any point, shutting down Evolution will resume normal function of the address bar. Brave is the only software the reacts badly to having Evolution running.
Brave Version( check About Brave):
1.74.48 Chromium: 132.0.6834.83 Additional Information:
The behaviour was noticed around version 1.73, but I had no idea it was an interaction with Evolution. This might be another example of a clipboard issue?
This issue might be related to a conflict between Brave and Gnome’s Evolution, possibly involving clipboard handling or resource contention. To reproduce, simply start both applications, enter a URL in Brave’s address bar while Evolution is running, and observe the freeze. Disabling Evolution resolves the issue, suggesting an interaction between the two programs.
I can confirm similar behavior. If I double click an email in Evolution mail, entering an URL in Brave starts lagging. Closing Evolution mail and open it again fixes the problem until I receive an email and double click it to open/read it. It took me months until I figured out that the problem is related to Evolution mail. I have also Chromium, Chrome and Firefox installed on my Manjaro Linux (Plasma/Wayland) but they don’t have this problem.
I don’t have this behavior on X11. It seems to be related to Wayland.
