Mate Desktop Environment website locks up Brave Browser

Description of the issue:
Accessing the Mate Desktop Environment website locks up the Brave browser causing it to become unresponsive, this does not happen when accessing the site in a private window.

Issue is reproducible on both Linux and Windows, inspections of task managers show all brave processes stuck in a Read/Write state with high CPU usage, requiring a kill -9 to stop.

Testing on a offline version of the website (Saved via another browser) found that the removal of every Link element with ‘type=“application/rss+xml”’ seems to have fixed the issue.

Exact URL of the website in question:

Did the issue present with default Shields settings? (yes/no)
yes
(Issues are present with a fresh installation of the Brave Browser, as tested in a virtual machine)

Does the site function as expected when Shields are turned off?
no
(Site HTML loads but is unusable)

Is there a specific Shields configuration that causes the site to break? If so, tell us that configuration. (yes/no):
no

Does the site work as expected when using Chrome?
Site and Browser function correctly in chrome and with other chromium based browsers.

Brave version (check About Brave):
Version 1.49.132 Chromium: 111.0.5563.147 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Investigating, I can replicate this. CPU seems excessive. Thanks for the report.
