Brave goes unresponsive when typing into the address bar

Description of the issue:
When I open a new window or tab, approximately 75%+ of the time as soon as I start typing into the address bar, Brave freezes and I shortly get the Windows (Not Responding). It’ll clear and I am able to use the address bar again and I don’t have further issues until I open a new tab. When I’m already on a website that is not the default homepage and type into the address bar, I don’t have this issue.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Be on the latest version of Brave, on Windows 11 Pro
  2. Open a new Brave browser window
  3. Start typing in the address bar

Expected result:
Ideally, Brave wouldn’t freeze every time I use it :slight_smile: I’m resorting to other browsers most of the time since it’s so annoying.

Can you please confirm for me whether or not you have any extensions installed in the browser at this time?

This happened to me as well.

Version: 1.71.114

OS: Manjaro
Kernel: Linux 6.6.54-2-MANJARO
Desktop: Hyprland (Wayland)

Same problem here, I’m running Windows 11 and also have the Citrix receiver running, I noticed it happens when I have data on my clipboard copied from my Citrix desktop session, it doesn’t happen if the data was copied from my local machine where Brave is installed.
