Downloaded Brave but everything wants to open in my old Chrome browser

I recently downloaded Brave mainly because of ad blocking problems. Now I find when going to a link, it opens Chrome instead of Brave - how can I fix this?

Welcome to community! You’ll need to set Brave as your default browser:

1. Launch Brave and open the main menu.
2. Select Settings.
3. Scroll down until you see the Default Browser section and select Make Default .
