Brave desktop browser password autofill on Mac OS 14.6.
The browser has managed to import pwds from several sources, including other browsers and Mac OS “Passwords.” I am able to use the autofill feature.
However, when autofilling both a uname and a pwd, in separate, successive forms, the password autofill feature always opens a dialogue/button window (which also prevents the pwds from autofilling), which offers to open the OS “Passwords” app.
I have noticed that in login forms which contain both the uname and pwd, both of these are successfully filled. So it appears that it is the generation of the dialogue/button window which interferes with the feature.
I have not been able to find and remove Brave from the Passwords database, to simply prevent the browser from accessing it anymore.
Turning off the Autocomplete option from private windows within Settings/Autofill and passwords/ his no help for this issue.
To reproduce:
Navigate to a web site (whatever).com with sole uname entry (meaning no pwd entry on the initial form). Select a username/account from Brave’s resident list. On the following pwd entry, Brave displays “Use a save passkey for whatever.com/ iCloud keychain/ Use a phone, tablet, or security key/Cancel.”
In order to use autocomplete from the Brave resident list, you must select “Cancel” or open Mac OS’ Passwords app - yet again. (This gets frustrating after a couple of days.)
Expected result: as detailed above…
OS, as above
Thanks for addressing my concern.
Thanks!
