Brave iOS keeps crashing after opening a wrong link

Description of the issue:
After opening a wrong link, the whole app becomes unusable.
Every time I open the app, a grey screen comes up, and before loading the app, it closes itself.

I’ve tried to offload the app and then reinstall it, but did not work.
I have a lot of opened tabs (200+) which I really don’t want to lose, so do you think that it would be possible to create a fix for it without uninstalling the app?

How can this issue be reproduced?
BE AWARE that these steps might broke your Brave iOS as well!!

1. Open this link: https://boardgamedesignlab.com/mechanism-master-list/
2. Try to open the link of “Auction: Once Around”
3. It opens a broken link (bplist00%C2%A3%01%02%03_%10?http://Auction:%20Once%20Around%20%7C%20Board%20Game%20MechanicP%C3%90%08%0CNO%00%00%00%00%00%00%01%01%00%00%00%00%00%00%00%04%00%00%00%00%00%00%00%00%00%00%00%00%00%00%00P), which brokes the browser, and it keeps crashing whenever I try to open the browser.

Expected result: it should just show that the page cannot be loaded (like it does in Safari)

Brave Version( check About Brave): 1.16.1 (the bug occures first in the previous version, I’ve updated to the newest version, but unfortunately it didn’t solve the problem)

Mobile Device details iPhone 13 (iOS 17.2.1)

Additional Information: I have tried in Brave Beta as well, and it crashed there as well

Thanks for the report. We have a fix here https://github.com/brave/brave-ios/pull/8648/files
It will land in public beta today or early next week. And on prod together with prod version 1.62

I will let you know if there is a temporary workaround for this infinite crash before 1.62 ships
