Description of the issue:
I use Linux.
Brave (flatpak) crashes after last update as it seems. I’m getting a lot of errors like “Aw! Snap!” and every time I reload the page to continue using it.
Also 4 times it dumped core (https://pastebin.com/zj56B8Pc). Two times it completely froze my DE (GNOME 46.1). I also tried AUR version of Brave (brave-bin) with the same result.
Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.
- Just open YouTube, start watching video (quality doesn’t matter) - can happen in 10 minutes or few hours.
- Seems I have same problem also with streaming music (e.g. YouTube Music).
Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):
Aw! Snap! or dumping core.
Expected result:
Just play video and music in browser.
Reproduces how often:
It happens randomly, no particular system here. Can be few minutes or few hours.
Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave
page in the main menu):
OS: Arch Linux x86_64 (fully updated today)
Kernel: 6.8.9-arch1-1
DE: GNOME 46.1
Brave Version 1.65.126 Chromium: 124.0.6367.118 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Additional Information:
What I tried to do:
- Tried flatpak and AUR versions.
- Tried to turn off all the shields and privacy stuff in browser settings.
- Tried to clear cookies/cache with browser restart.
- Checked if I have ffmpeg and gstreamer installed and in case of codecs failure I reinstalled them both.
- Tried to disable all chrome extensions in browser.
- Checked my internet connection (I use wifi) stability and speed (0% packet loss when browser error appears). Restarted my router just in case.
- Checked browser console (F12) to see what happens there when error appears. Unfortunately I don’t know sh*t, so I didn’t found clues there.
- Tried to turn on/off graphics acceleration and memory saver in browser settings.
Can someone help me please? At least where I should searching for the cause of this? Or it is the browser problem? It worked pretty stable on last version as I remember.
Thanks!
