Description of the issue:
Tabs will frequently crash (The ever useful ‘Aw, Snap’ error message) at random on seemingly all sites frequently. Interacting with the page seems to increase the odds of the crash happening, however, it isn’t the sole contributor, as it can happen while just, say, watching YouTube, but not as frequently. Tabs left entirely idle seem to be stable.
Running on Ubuntu 18.04.
How can this issue be reproduced?
- Start Brave
- Browse a few pages
- Tab will crash to the ‘Aw, Snap’ error message at some point between immediately and half an hour, with page interaction increasing the likelihood.
Expected result:
Brave Version( check About Brave
): Version 0.67.125 Chromium: 76.0.3809.100 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Additional Information:
Attempted clearing cache, no success.
Attempted complete reinstall via apt remove
… apt install
… no success
JavaScript console displays no errors on crash.
Running brave-browser
from a terminal and examining the output displays no errors on crash.
Could this be a dependency issue? No other versions of Chrome were installed to this machine before the error started presenting itself.
Apologies, I’m all too aware how unhelpful this description is. If anyone has guidance on how to access possibly more illuminating log files etc, it would be very appreciated.
