Well after updating Brave for like months without updating it, it just doesnt launch anymore, no process, nothing. The only way to launch it is using the compatibility mode.
I found the issue, apparently if u had launch as administrator by default it doesnt launch any process, but if you untick the option and launch it without administrator it works, also with right click and launch it with administrator it works too.
@Vhalak don’t launch as administrator at all. Doing that can cause other issues, such as some of the files being locked and causing things like Shields to stop working. Just to quote what one of the devs was saying:
One thing I’d like to point out here is that running Brave as admin is a bad idea and we should not recommend it (cc @Saoiray). It seems clear that when Brave is started as admin and makes changes in the user data directory, such as installing or updating a component, then future changes to the affected files as non-admin become impossible. So running Brave as admin only makes the problem worse, and from then on, the user always has to run Brave as admin. It’s not a solution. What’s more, if a user’s problems were not caused by permission issues, but they read online that they should launch Brave as admin to maybe fix, then that attempt in itself might corrupt their profile.
In short, please do not recommend running Brave as admin.
And in regard to your issue, it was:
So basically is saying with some of the recent Chromium changes, opening as admin can cause the browser not to open. But even if it does open, it can cause a variety of issues.
