Brave Shield is not working today

Hello All
I started today browser on brave but the shield is not working

@sikwati check to make sure your browser is updated, perhaps try to also check if any updates can be done at brave://components. Beyond that, perhaps might be one of your extensions causing issues as they can interfere. Generally you want to use as few extensions as possible.

Should be no issues, as you can see how it appeared for me.

It’s given me an error message in the Ad list and Ads Resources

@sikwati what you’re sharing is related to an issue I have open at https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/issues/38609 and I hope @shivan and @fanboynz might be helping to figure out yet.

A lot of times, it has been discovered that a person’s OS is somehow differentiating the components folder from the rest and doesn’t allow update to happen unless you open Brave as an adminisatrator.

Some others try deleting components within their Brave-browser folders and relaunch, at which point they say it resolves. At this point, I’m not entirely sure which way to point you on this.

I guess can also ask you, @sikwati to do a favor and check out https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/issues/38609#issuecomment-2195847971 and reply back with some of the information requested by Clifton in that comment I linked.

Of course, I should also have pushed for you to answer…

  1. Which version of Brave are you using? (share exact version number, don’t just answer “the latest.”

  2. Which OS are you using?

I found old replies of you on topic have the same promblom of my
I try to run as administrator, and it works, thank you

Hey. Just putting this here in case it helps with the larger issue. I had this exact same issue today where Shield wasn’t working at all. I tried a few things including a re-install over the top. However like above, running as Administrator fixed the problem. The only thing to note is that this issue didn’t seem to exist prior to me running and installing Windows Updates earlier today, in my case KB5041587. I wonder if this is perhaps modifying/resetting permissions for stuff within AppData and contributing to the issue.
