Brave almost unresponsive (very, very slow) during a Teams call and sharing screen

Brave browser slows down to a painful crawl taking 10-30 secs to respond to any mouse clicks or scrolling etc.

This occurs during a Microsoft Teams call while sharing any screen or viewing the other callers screen. Microsoft Edge browser is not affected and is used whenever I’m on a Teams call due to Brave being virtually unresponsive.

  1. Make a Teams call,
  2. Share your screen with the other person or have them share their screen,
  3. Brave is virtually unresponsive.

Should not be affected. Edge is still as snappy as ever.

Version 1.37.109 Chromium: 100.0.4896.60 (Official Build) (64-bit)

I have noticed this on zooms with screen sharing, especially with Excel running. I assumed it was a RAM issue, with all those Brave processes open.

Definitely not a RAM issue as I have plenty of unused RAM when I look at Task Manager. Also Edge which is also Chromium based doesn’t experience any of these problems (even with Brave still open) although I much prefer Brave.

@netready,
Can you try disabling Hardware Acceleration in settings to see if this resolves the issue?

You’ll find this in Settings --> Additional Settings --> System --> Hardware Acceleration

OK, just disabled hardware acceleration. Will update with results after my next Teams call with sharing.
