Brave ads not showing...ever

I installed Brave last week and have yet to see a single ad. I get them on my iPhone (don’t need help with that), but not on my desktop. I have updated, refreshed, restarted, reinstalled, and checked all the settings that are obvious to me several times. No dice.

I’m running MacOS Catalina 10.15.7 and Brave version [
Version 1.20.108 Chromium: 88.0.4324.182 (Official Build) (x86_64)
]

Any suggestions on what I am missing and how I can start seeing ads and earning BAT?
