Black page on new tab

Description of the issue:
When Opening new tabs, Brave will display a blank, white page. The Favicon loads, and so does the page title in that tab. If I attempt to go to the same web url on an already open tab, the page loads just fine.
How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Open Brave
  2. Pull a tab onto a 2nd screen
  3. Close the tab on the 2nd screen
  4. SOMETIMES you will now get blank tabs being created on the ORIGINAL brave instance.

Expected result:
To see the page I went to

Brave Version( check About Brave):
Version 1.24.86 Chromium: 90.0.4430.212 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Additional Information:
Linux Mint 20.1 Cinnamon
Linux Kernel 5.4.0-73-generic
GFX Card NVIDIA Corporation GM204 [GeForce GTX 970] (don’t know if that matters)

Things I have tried:
Updating,
Remove and re-install
disable hardware acceleration
enable hardware acceleration
being more brave
