Autoplay controls inaccessible except by going directly via URL

Brave version:
Version 1.35.100 Chromium: 98.0.4758.87 (Official Build) (64-bit)

OS: Windows 8.1, Windows 11

The only means to disable video autoplay is to go directly to: brave://settings/content/autoplay

The graphical means, by navigating this way, suggested at How do I disable autoplay of videos on Brave for windows 10 is not possible:

settings → security → content → Autoplay

Reason: this does not correspond to the current browser interface.

Moreover, there is no way to find the disable autoplay feature by means of the interface, and searching within it provides no results when “autoplay” is queried.

Same problem here, can only access with brave://settings/content/autoplay (Windows 10)

i was not able to change it even so. normally i do not want it, but i do want it on jango.com for music. of course i want it to play what i just asked for. i did the http string and made an exception but when i logged back in, it still said my browser was stopping autoplay.

seems like the lock icon described in help should be there but it is not.

Same here on Mac 2024 OS 14.4.1 PLEASE FIX THIS

Linux (previously Windows) user here; try this:

Settings | Privacy and security | Site and shield settings [expand] | Additional permissions [expand]

Autoplay is (on my screen) 3rd on the list.

ON Mac that does not exist.
site and shield settings has only
third part cookies
Java script
Images
PopUps and Re-directs
none of those have Auto play settings

Immediately above what you listed: is Additional permissions on offer? If ‘yes’, click it and (third down on the list) you’ll find Autoplay.

If not …

I’m telling you on MAC this is not there
Additional Permissions DOES NOT HAVE ANY AUTO PLAY SETTING.
It does on Windows, but not on Mac.

I found it, yes it is there the ADDITIONAL PERMISSIONS arrow is just backwards.
So it looks like it is expanded when it is not.

Good!

Going back more-than-a-few-years (late summer 2019), Chromium (very emphatically: Google) disabled users’ control of autoplay. A third-party extension very effectively restored this control. Since then (my notes don’t pin-point the date) Brave appears to have restored user control of autoplay. My own experience: I no longer need this 3rd-party extension.

“One-size-fits-all” never fits all. While Brave’s ‘autoplay’ options work for me, they may not suit everyone. But I’m glad you found them.
