Hello,
I use Brave for a while now, never had any issues before, but now the sync problem has reached me as well.
I did a clean install of Linux and tried to get the sync working, but after a few tries always the same happens: Only my bookmarks are downloaded, any other sync data like settings or extensions do not work at all. The bookmarks are then also not further synced, it seems like a one time download.
I tried the flatpak and dnf package, both the same result.
brave://sync-internals/ shows “Sync Source: Uninitialized”. Occasionally, the log loops “Intitial GetUpdates” and “GetUpdatesResponse”, but nothing happens.
Screenshot of brave://sync-internals/:
What could I try to get it working?
Thanks.
@Craftily6802 I’ve pinged a couple of our Sync team members about this. Can you tell me what device(s) you have on the Sync chain?
Currently the chain has two Windows machines and an iPhone.
I also had a Debian machine previously, which I now replaced with Fedora where the problem now occurred.
I now got it to work with reproducable steps.
What did not work: Activate sync (only Bookmarks on by default) → Click on sync everything
What did work: Do steps from above → Switch to “Customize sync” again → Turn off any of the other settings (e.g. Extensions) and turn it on again → Click on “Sync everything”.
With these steps I managed to get the sync working, it is also reproducable with other fresh installs I tried out of curiosity.
I am still here to provide anything to track this bug down.
