Amazon prime video not viewable in HD

Description of the issue:
Cannot view HD content via Amazon Prime. Says that set up is not HDCP compliant. Yet running the exact same setup using Safari (Version 13.1 (14609.1.20.111.8) on OSX 10.14.6 works fine. No changes to monitor, hardware, cables or movies between Brave test and Safari test.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Open up Brave Version 1.9.72 Chromium: 81.0.4044.138 (Official Build) (64-bit). Disable shields.
  2. View a HD movie in Amazon Prime Video
  3. Receive error message from Amazon Prime that video cannot be watched in HD.

Expected result:

Can view it in HD format.

Can you try disabling Hardware Acceleration in settings to see if this resolves the issue?
You’ll find this in Settings --> Additional Settings --> System --> Hardware Acceleration

Thanks for responding @Aa-ron, I followed your instructions but there was no change. It still does not playback at HD rates.

@mattrial, so just to confirm, you can play video at lower qualities?

Yes. No problems viewing at lower qualities (non-HD).

Can you try creating a new profile and seeing if the issue persists?
Click on the menu icon in the top right corner > create a new profile.

Created a new profile. Only thing I did was log into amazon and view the movie. Still standard def. I didn’t add any extensions or make any configuration changes to the net new profile.

Can you confirm if HD video worked in the past?
Also you mentioned disabling Shields, does it work with Shields up?
