I’ve tried resetting permissions and clearing cookies, as suggested in a now-closed post on this issue.
I’m on a Microsoft Surface Book (Version 10.0.18363 Build 18363) with Windows 10 Pro.

does turning off the shield make difference

Thanks for the quick reply! Turned “shields off” and no change, even after resetting all the permissions and removing cookies. Using Brave version 184.108.40.206, installed Nov. 4.
