I was trying to delete from the cookies-always-allowed list an address that seemed to come out of nowhere. So I hovered over the trash-can icon next to the address, the icon lit up, I clicked it, and nothing happened. So the address was not removed. Then I started a time-consuming thread
(There is a site that Brave won't let me remove from list of Sites that can always use cookies)
where a couple of experts (Emi and Saoiray) were finally able to get through to this newbie that I had to first raise the shield for that website, and a safe way of doing so. It was at first suggested that I visit the website in order to check its shield and raise it, but that didn’t seem safe to me. Finally I followed their direction to brave://settings/content/braveShields to raise the shield without visiting the site. Then I was able to remove the address from the cookies-always-allowed list. Also I didn’t see how to navigate to brave://settings/content/braveShields through the Settings menu.
It seems that there are numerous time-consuming support threads coming from these same problems.
I would suggest to add a couple features:
- When clicking the trash-can icon to remove the address, instead of failing silently, the user should be alerted that the problem is that the shield is down for that site. They should be directed somehow to brave://settings/content/braveShields to raise the shield for that site.
- Endow the Settings menu with an easy way to reach brave://settings/content/braveShields. Maybe there is a way, but I didn’t find it.
Thanks for your consideration and thanks for Brave.
