I’d like to suggest a feature similar to the “Zap” tool in the Arc browser. This feature allows users to remove unwanted elements from websites, such as sidebars, pop-ups, ads, or any distracting components, creating a more focused and personalized browsing experience.
The customization could be saved for future visits, making it a powerful tool for users who frequent the same websites and prefer a cleaner interface. Implementing this in Brave could:
• Enhance user productivity.
• Offer more control over website layouts.
• Further improve privacy by removing trackers embedded in certain website elements.
I believe this would be a great addition to Brave’s privacy-focused ethos and its existing set of user-friendly features.
For a better understanding of how this feature works, you can watch this video, which explains Arc’s “Zap” tool and other customization capabilities: How to Re-skin the Internet with Arc
Looking forward to hearing thoughts from the community!
Then the screen kind of grays out so it’s easy to see what we’re selecting. Whatever we mouseover will brighten up. Once you find what you want to block (which you’re saying is “zap”), you click on it. So like on this screenshot, you see where I selected the notice about you last posting 10 months ago
Once you click, it generates a rule and shows it on the bottom right. You click on Create and it adds it as a custom content filter in Shields. It permanently remains there until you choose to remove it.
And like I said, if I want to bring them back, all I do is go back into Settings → Shields → Content Filtering → Create custom filters and erase it. The most recent ones I created will be on the bottom.
Boosting indeed would be new, where it lets you change the colors and all. For that, would have to rely on an extension. But at least wanted to point that out the block elements thing for now.
