YouTube Video Glitch in Fullscreen Mode – Homepage Overlapping on Android

:lady_beetle: Bug Report: YouTube Glitches in Fullscreen Mode on Android (Homepage Overlaps Video)

Description of the issue:
When opening YouTube in the Brave browser on Android, switching to fullscreen mode causes a visual glitch where the browser’s homepage overlaps the YouTube video, making it partially or completely unviewable.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary):

  1. Open Brave browser on an Android device.
  2. Navigate to https://youtube.com.
  3. Play any video.
  4. Switch to fullscreen mode (rotate the phone or tap fullscreen).
  5. Observe the screen.

Actual Result:
When the video enters fullscreen mode, the Brave browser’s homepage (or previously visited homepage tab) overlays the video, causing a glitchy or obstructed playback view. This makes it difficult or impossible to watch the video properly.

Expected Result:
The YouTube video should play in fullscreen without any overlapping UI or homepage elements.

Reproduces how often:
Always — happens every time fullscreen mode is used for YouTube videos.

Brave Version:
Brave is up to date Version 1.78.102 Chromium: 136.0.7103.113 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Reproducible on current live release:
Yes

Additional Information:

  • Operating System: Android Android 9
  • Device: Vivo U20
  • Extensions (if any): None
  • Other Notes: The issue persists regardless of mobile orientation (portrait/landscape) and happens only in full-screen mode.

Thanks for reporting. We have a fix on the way for this.
