Youtube Quality settings

Troubleshooting technical issues is much easier when both the user and support agent practice clear communication. For this reason, we have provided the template below for you to fill out with information about your issue. Please provide as much detail as possible so we can most efficiently resolve your problem.

Description of the issue:
Youtube not displaying all the quality options for videos. eg: max quality 360p or 720p, but when using Safari on the same video it displays every quality option, even 4k 60fps.

However, the video will play at its max quality option if set to Auto Quality, even if it displays no higher option than 360p.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Go to youtube
  2. search for any video, but if you search for 4k you know the quality settings go that high
  3. open the quality setting on youtube by tapping the cog icon.
4 observe the options given. there will be fewer than in safari or other browsers

Expected result:
all quality options given. seems to have been introduced w ith the latest brave update

Brave Version( check About Brave):
1.4.8.1

Mobile Device details
ipad pro 12.9 inch 2022

Additional Information:
seems to work fine sometimes, but not others, especially when using airplay

Be waiting for your response!

I can confirm that private tabs do not make any difference,.

I have tested this again in safari and it also has the same effect so now I dont think its a brave issue.

If anyone has any insights please let me know, otherwise you may close this ticket. Thanks

This happens in every iOS browser unfortunately. It’s what Youtube chose to offer in terms of video quality options.
What’s weird they usually offer better quality options for iPads while for iPhone it’s usually lower
