Youtube page crashes after one minute of watching: error: out of memory

Description of the issue:

youtube page crashes after one minute of playback. The error I get is: Out of memory. I have 64gig of ram and plenty of empty hard drive

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Play a video on youtube
  2. after one minute or so I see the “Not enough memory to open this page” error. Try closing other tabs or programs to free up memory. Error code: out of memory.
  3. At the time of incident I have only 42% memory used of my 64gb ram.
  4. When I reload the page and play it again, usually it plays it without further issue.
  5. I am seeing this just recently.

Expected result:
It should play the video without crashing the page.

Brave Version( check About Brave):

Version 1.37.116 Chromium: 100.0.4896.127 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Additional Information:
I only see this on youtube.com

  • Try clearing the cookies/cache in brave://settings/clearBrowserData
  • Then relogin into youtube.
  • Also test in private window mode, with no extensions enabled.

Clearing cache and cookies did not resolve the issue. I will further test in private mode.
