WebRTC microphone quality in Microsoft Teams calls have annoying static

When using the browser-based version of Microsoft Teams, outgoing microphone audio is full of static.

This issue can be reproduced by:

  1. Signing in at https://teams.microsoft.com
  2. Opening the Teams ‘Calls’ tab in the left navigation bar
  3. Selecting the call settings menu option in the bottom left corner
  4. Selecting the Device settings menu option in the sub-menu that appears
  5. Selecting ‘Make a test call’ and hearing your microphone playback full of static

Expected result:
Clear audio

Additional Information:
Testing the same audio input and output device settings on Firefox and Edge returns clear audio results. Additionally, Audacity and Discord desktop apps return clear audio results.
