Description of the issue:
Starting March 21 (after the latest March 20 release), web authentication protocol on any website requesting 2FA using a security key (yubikey) fails to launch and immediately generates a message stating there is an issue with authentication.
How can this issue be reproduced?
- Go to the login page of any website requiring MFA using a physical security key (e.g. yubikey).
- Go through the login process by entering login credentials (username and password) to get passed through to the MFA page requesting user to insert security key for authentication.
- Observe failure of web authentication protocol launch.
Expected result:
Either a pop-up providing instructions for yubikey or immediate authentication of security key.
Brave Version( check About Brave
):
Version 1.64.109 Chromium: 123.0.6312.58 (Official Build) (x86_64)
Additional Information:
Brave specific issue as I’m still able to authenticate with yubikey on other browsers. I don’t see any other posts featuring this issue, so this issue could be specific to my device as it is older and using an older OS (Big Sur 11.7.10). Alternatively, no one has yet created a post on this item, because of all the hoops one has to jump through to do so. I’m taking one for the team, because I use a security key for everything and this feature being unavailable to me is more painful than writing this post.
