Wanted to remove unwanted banner

Just wanted to remove ‘’read in app’’ banner from website [thehindu.com].

: Brave Shield - ON
: IOS 17 (updated)
: Brave IOS (updated)

Example page :https://www.thehindu.com/opinion/open-page/under-watch/article68563691.ece

@justprincehere,
Based on the screenshot you’re sharing, it looks like you’re viewing the site in Safari, not Brave. Can you please view the site in Brave browser directly and let me know if the site displays the same?

@Mattches I can confirm that it happens in Brave. It appears as you scroll down to read things.:

Hey, @Saoiray

Is there any way that we can remove such type banner from websites ourselves?

And what if we find some pop-up ad’s banners in any website?

Suggest me so we can block/remove ourselves.

Interestingly enough, I do not see this banner on my iPad. I do see a very small one at the top of the page when I enter an article, but it is not in the middle of the screen and does not obstruct any of the content on the page.

That is interesting, @Mattches. For what it’s worth, a screen recording is linked below just to show me navigating to the website and letting you see the timing of it appearing. But then as I scroll, you see it doesn’t go away. I go to a couple different parts of the site. Then afterwards I navigate to settings to show what Shields settings I’m using, though I’m assuming plays no role in this.

Device & Version Info:

Brave Version 1.68.1 (145)
iOS Version 17.6.1
Device: iPhone 13 Pro Max.

-NOTE-
Before submitting this reply, I decided to try Request Desktop Site but it didn’t have any impact.

Will get @fanboynz to take a look here.

Awesome. Btw, I just used Dev Tools from my Windows to put into mobile view and it happened there as well. When I inspect element:

Using Block Element option available from Desktop, it created the rule www.thehindu.com##.flex-box which seems to have gotten rid of it. I’ll be moving it over to my phone and testing, but at least is early findings here.

*-EDIT-

Just tested and adding that rule makes it go away.

Then I removed it and tried Fanboys Mobile Notifications just in case, but it didn’t make a difference.

@Saoiray that’s hilarious I was literally just testing the exact same thing. I tested Fanboys Mobile Notifications earlier too but didn’t make any difference but yeah, just got done testing blocking that element in desktop and it does seem to work.

@justprincehere can you please go to (in Brave on iOS) Brave Shields & Privacy --> Content filtering --> Custom filters and enter www.thehindu.com##.flex-box into the box and save? This should stop the banner from appearing on the site (note that you may need to refresh the site before the change takes effect.

Fix will be out in the next 24hrs.

I tried it and it worked

Thakyou.
