Wallet pointing to the incorrect price for a coin

Description of the issue:

I added a custom asset to my wallet for Immutable X on the ethereum mainnet.

  • Immutable X
  • IMX
  • 0xf57e7e7c23978c3caec3c3548e3d615c346e79ff
  • 18

It shows the proper amount I bought but displays the incorrect price. It looks like there are two IMX coins on coingecko:

DESIRED

AVOID

The one I bought is the former and you are displaying the price for the latter. If you look at my wallet you can see that I did purchase the coin I’m referring to:

Are you using the (new) [Brave Wallet]:
Using the New wallet system with it preferred over extensions

How can this issue be reproduced?
Add the custom asset. I’ve added and removed many times before alerting you.

Brave Version (check About Brave):
Version 1.32.106 Chromium: 96.0.4664.45 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Additional Information:
brave://wallet/crypto/portfolio

  • Click Visible Assets button > add custom asset hyperlink.
  • If I add the Impermax contract I don’t see any amount or price. This is good.
  • On the contrary if I enter the Immutable X contract I see an amount and price. The correct amount, but the price and graph follow Impermax.

@kuehn,
Thank you for reaching out. We already have an open issue for this and the team should be addressing it soon:

Thanks, we’ll try to get this updated on the server side within the next few days, and a better fix was mentioned above by Mattches which will come later.

Same thing here with a token named Behodler with symbol EYE (0x155ff1a85f440ee0a382ea949f24ce4e0b751c65) being mistaken for another token named MeDIA eYe (0x9a257c90fa239fba07771ef7da2d554d148c2e89) with the same symbol on coingecko.

We’re looking at doing lookups by contract address when on Ethereum soon to fix this.

We now lookup by contract address for Ethereum assets so this should be working now.
