Verifying Brave Windows Update

To learn what’s the latest Brave release: there are (at least) 2 ways to do this. First, here’s Brave’s web page supposedly showing the current release status. (For Windows, you’re interested in “Desktop”.)

“Supposedly”: at this moment (May 26, 2024), that web page shows v1.66.113 (May 22, 2024) as the most recent release. But v1.66.115 was released May 24, 2024.

Oops.

Which leads to the second way to check Brave’s release status. Scroll up toward the top of the Brave Community home page and you’ll find options (Categories, Tags, …) from which you can select. Click on “Tags”, scroll down (these aren’t in any discernible sequence), and click on “Release”.

https://community.brave.com/tag/release

Here, you’ll find a list of Brave Community messages announcing Brave releases. As with the “Brave Release Notes” web page, occasionally announcing a release (e.g.: v1.66.113) is skipped.

Oops.

Determining the Brave version you’re using - it would seem you’re doing this correctly: “Hamburger” icon | Help | About Brave. The box displays the installed Brave and Chromium versions. (If a Brave update is available but hasn’t yet been installed, at a minimum, you’ll have to close and restart Brave.)

CONFIRM that I’m ACTUALLY USING the LATEST version?

While it’s prudent to keep any application (not limited to Brave) up to date, I wouldn’t stress about being at the front of the line.
