Description of the issue:
When searching from address bar, I get historical suggestions which override intuitive use of the search feature, whereby the Brave browser assumes the suggestion when I submit my search terms.
How can this issue be reproduced?
- Enter a word to search for in the address/search field, such as ‘brave’;
- An auto-suggestion is inserted at the cursor (such as brave://settings/advanced);
3.When hitting Return to search for Brave - as specifically entered - the assumed, auto-completed term(s) is searched for instead. I HAVE to manually remove the inserted term(s);
Expected result:
Erm… to search for the words I typed in and not change or add to what I typed in…
The suggestions should ALL appear beneath the text field and not WITHIN the text field.
Who on Earth decided this to be the best default action and why is this not an obvious usability issue to anyone else? Having to purposefully and consistently tell your browser to stop inserting previous, unneeded terms into my search terms.
Brave Version( check About Brave
):
All.
Additional Information:
Basically, it’s a poorly implemented, optional feature that needs fixing if it is to be useful and not a hindrance and frustration.
How did this make it past usability/quality checks? O_o
