It only happens when I turn on the Hardware Acceleration
Hardware Acceleration seems to cause a lot of issues, unfortunately there is no definitive answer how to resolve those issues. I noticed the common recommendation is updating GPU drivers to the latest version (if they’re not up-to-date).

But surely you can just switch it off…
There won’t be any problems if you switch it off.
Oh I see the problem now, I don’t do any 3D stuff on my PC.
Hopefully it gets fixed soon.

yeah, no problem. I enjoy Brave, but regretfully I need to switch to Chrome for 3D intensive stuff.
