TABS ALL GONE after clicking YES to restore them!

Brave was doing its usual “not reSponding” nuissance… then a box appeared to prompt to restart Brave, so I clicked Yes, then a box appeared to prompt “RESTORE TABS”? I clicked Yes as usual, of course… then one blank window appered… My 2 windows full of many grouped tabs were all missing… GREAT!

How can I get them back please? There must be a way, if they have been stored and displayed on every start and restart for the last 3 years!.. Where are they stored and hidden please and how can I restore them all again?

Please backup the “BraveSoftware” folder, to a safe location.


Windows OS:

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\[etc.]


Sometimes, the following two steps, are sufficient to get Brave Browser running properly.

With BB not running, delete the ‘Caches’ folder, and delete the ‘Cookies’ file.

Caches (folder):

  • %LOCALAPPDATA%\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Default\Cache\

Cookies (file):

  • %LOCALAPPDATA%\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Default\Cookies

The browser API lets you recover only 25 tabs or windows, so unfortunately you do need to have a backup routine involving bookmarking the tabs you want to keep. This extension will recover what’s available.

Thanks, but my Brave browser is working fine now… but as explained in the post you are replying to, it is all my tabs that are missing… Your reply does not fix that…
