I have been using Brave for several months. My husband has been using Chrome browser, but just today decided to switch to Brave. He downloaded and installed Brave. When he opened the Brave browser all he could see was a solid black screen. when he moved the mouse around the screen, he could see that there are things to click on, but all he could see is the black.
He has a Lenovo Thinkpad W520. Windows 10. He uninstalled and reinstalled it but nothing has changed. Any idea on what the issue is?
By the way, this is not the black screen with the sad face, it’s just black.
Thanks for any help.
@alge,
Thanks for reaching out!
I actually just spoke to a user a few days ago who emailed us experiencing this exact issue. If I may quote myself here:
[…]We’d like for you to run a quick test and share the results with us, if that’s alright with you. Its just device information, nothing sensitive, but we would understand if you would decline these tests.
The test in particular is
dxdiag
which runs diagnostics and displays information about your devices display/graphics drivers. You can run this command from the Windows command line. Typecmd
into the Windows search bar and bring up the Windows command line terminal. Typedxdiag
into the terminal and press Enter. We’re interested in the results in the
Display
tab.Let me know the results and I’ll have the team go over them to see if we can find the cause of the issue.
If you and/or your husband are comfortable sharing that information with us we’d love to take a look and see if we can further diagnose the issue.
Thank you for your quick response. We are happy to share the information with you. Is there a way to do that so all the information isn’t in the body of this message?
The information from the Display tab is attached as a txt. Let me know if you prefer a different format.
(Attachment DxDiag.txt is missing)
You’re welcome to include the information in the body of the message. You can also upload screenshots of the tab.
If you’d rather send the information to me instead of on the thread, you’re welcome to message me directly
It’s cumbersome, but here it is…
Not sure if you’d intended to send additional info with that or if it’s still on the way
Let me know if you have any trouble grabbing it. You should be able to highlight and copy/paste straight from the tab into the editor here on the form.
is it the Directx Diagnostic Tool info only?
How about this?

Any progress on this?
We’re still looking into this stuff. There’s another thread up right now that I’ve been directing all of our users experiencingWindows 7 display issues towards. We also have this officially logged now.
Appreciate your patience as we work to resolve the issue.
