Slow to load pages

Several web pages load very slowly. As an example:

https://online.citi.com/US/login.do?locale=en_US

takes about a minute to completely load. Chrome loads it instantly.

So far I have tried:

1. Disabling Hardware acceleration
2. Brave --> Clear CSS rules for all sites
3. clearing browsing data for All time
4. turned off all extensions

none of this helped.

I’m using:
Version 1.13.86 Chromium: 85.0.4183.102 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Any suggestions?

PS this has been going on for at least 3 months…, and is getting worse with more web sites, it is getting to the point of being unusable.

Hey Curtis,

how many boxes are checked in your brave://adblock/ ??
Maybe you also have some user defined adblocker ??
Are you cleaning your Browser/System temp files from time to time?

What does CPU/memory usage show in More Tools -> Task Manager ?
Does turning off Shields affect the citi website help?
Can you test in private mode (with or without shields enabled), does it improve?

@Rotbut… I have no boxes checked for adblock and I’m not using any user defined adblocker. Yes, I have cleaned out temp files.

@fanbonz… when I reload CITI webpage More Tools -> Task Manager shows that it takes 17 secs to load, CPU usage goes up to 99%, there are about 25 'Dedicated worker, 5 Subframe, Memory footprint is 193,308K, each Subframe Memory footprint is 31,000-36,000K

I disabled all Shields, made no difference.

Private window = identical results.

Also rebooting Windows makes no difference (I’m running Windows 7 Pro)

I’ve seen other people on the forum having similar problems, none of the suggestions in those posts have helped either.

I’ve been using Brave for about a year, the last several months this has become a more and more annoying issue… I need to resolve or switch browsers.
