Referral link - downloads doesn't show on the publisher page

Description of the issue:
Someone downloaded and installed Brave using my referral link, but this download doesn’t show on my publisher page.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary):

  1. Download and install Brave from Be Brave and support me!
  2. Publisher Dashboard show the downloaded as 0 (zero)

Expected result:

  1. Download and install Brave from Be Brave and support me!
  2. Publisher Dashboard show the downloaded increase +1

Reproduces how often:
Tried twice on different computers.

Brave Version(about:brave):
Version 0.55.18 Chromium: 70.0.3538.67 (Official Build) (64-bit)

I understand that the “Confirmed” are users that use the Brave browser for at least 30 days, but the download should appear no matter what.

I recognize ya from the other thread. My mistake, thought you were asking about referral confirmations.

The “download” count doesn’t actually increment until your referral users actually open and use Brave a little bit.

Thank you for the answer @Asad. I need an additional clarification to better understand how it works and would like to give a feedback.

The downloads counter will increment after the user use Brave a little bit.
Is there a specific amount of time or is it random? If it’s a specific time, is it possible to know what is it?

feedback: in the “downloads” counter I’m expecting to see everyone that click the link and then download the browser, regardless if they use it or not. I’m expecting to see the user in the “confirmed” counter only who uses Brave for >30 days.

I’m not sure about the required time. But it need to be opened because the referral checking is happens when the browser opened for the first time, AFAIK.


Yes, definitely downloaded, installed, opened and used. :confused:

Generally, the downloads indicator will increment as soon as the browser is installed and opened :slight_smile:

In my case it didn’t work. What should I check?
