Profile error (on multiple profiles)

I set up an initial profile. After a few weeks, I started getting “profile error”…some features may not be available. I didn’t really notice any features being a a problem, so I ignored it until I was trying to use for work and it would not run. Then I ran it in a new private window and it worked.

So, I set up a new profile to work and all has been fine with no errors until today. Now I’m getting the same profile error.

Anybody know what causes these and if they are able to be repaired? I’d like to not have to create new profiles, or it would be nice to know if something I’m doing is causing the profile errors so I can avoid it. I like this browser, so I’d hate to have to stop using it altogether.

Did the profiles get deleted, except for the main one?

No. Now I have one called profile 1 and one called PVB.

Thank you for reaching out and sorry to hear you’re having trouble with an error in your profiles, if you are able to use it in private mode it could be related with an extension interfering with your profile, please try removing your extensions to see if it works properly.

To Remove an Extension:

  1. On your computer, open Brave.
  2. At the top right, click Menu icon --> More tools --> Extensions.
  3. On to the extension you want to remove, click Remove.
  4. Confirm by clicking Remove.


  1. On your computer, open Brave.
  2. On your extensions toolbar, right-click the extension you would like to remove.
  3. Select Remove from Brave… from the context menu.

I only had 1 extension, Last Pass. I removed it on the one profile (profile 1) and I’m still getting the same error.

Any other suggestions? I do often have multiple tabs open during the day. I often close multiple tabs at a time. It seems like both times, there was an update and when it restarted after the update, there were profile errors.
