Possible False Positive Detection in Brave Installer by Zillya

Hello Brave Community,

I recently attempted to install Brave and encountered an issue with the installer being flagged by a single antivirus vendor, Zillya, as a potential Trojan (Trojan.Patched.Win32.192878) during my scans on VirusTotal and MetaDefender. Interestingly, other well-known vendors didn’t flag it, and when I cross-checked using Jotti, no threats were detected.

Given the inconsistency, I’m wondering if this might be a false positive. I downloaded the installer from what I believe is the official source ( The browser that puts you first | Brave ), but I wanted to double-check and get some insights.

  1. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue?

  2. Is Zillya known for being overly cautious or prone to false positives?

I’m considering re-downloading the installer directly from Brave’s GitHub page as a precaution, but I wanted to see if anyone could provide guidance or if there’s anything I should be aware of.
