PDF's will not open in BRAVE- Only ask for a location to save

Description of the issue: Any PDF I click on requests a file destination to save

Expected result: Would like PDF to open or as in CHROME to show up on the bottom of the web page, where I just CLICK the name and it will open

Reproduces how often: All the time

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu): Windows 10 64 bit Version 0.62.51 Chromium: 73.0.3683.103 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Additional Information:

@pasteve99,
Thanks for reaching out.

  1. In Brave:
  2. Open the main menu
  3. Navigate to Settings --> Advanced --> Privacy/Security --> Content Settings --> PDF documents
  4. Make sure this option is toggled to “off” as shown below

If this option is off, PDF files should now open in-browser.

Thank you. I had already set this to off (it is greyed out)
When I click on a PDF, lets say for example, in an email, BRAVE asks for a location.

This is a solution I tried but does not work

Steven

Do the links in the email appear as normal links? Also, your original post said that any PDF link requests to download with this option “off”?

How about trying the open the BAT Whitepaper here on Community:

Was able to open the white paper with no issue. However, when there is a PDF attached to an email the system requests a location to save to.

In Firefox, I have provided the option to save or open the PDF

In Chrome, the file appears on the bottom of my screen and I just click to open

Brave is the only browser requesting a location to save the file

Thanks

Steve

Hmmm, that’s strange. Opening an email from any online mail client (tested with Protonmail, gmail and Outlook) opens the PDF in a new tab for me. I see the same behavior in Chrome as well:
