Description of the issue:
I had a sync chain going from a windows desktop → android device, sharing passwords and open tabs.
The original windows device died, so I extended the sync chain via android device to another windows desktop. I then turned on bookmark sync, and this recovered the 2nd half of the bookmarks (in terms of order of bookmarks, not age) from the original device.
I would like to recover the full list of original bookmarks, and would like advice on options as the partial recovery suggests perhaps a full recovery is feasible and I can try data recovery on the dead device.
Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.
- setup sync chain from desktop → android. set shared info to include passwords and tabs
- take original device offline
- extend sync chain from android to other windows device.
- turn on bookmark sync from either mobile or the 2nd device
Reproduces how often:
Brave Version(See the About Brave
page in the main menu):
Current versions on Windows ( V1.36.122) and Android ( v1.36.122)
For the dead original device, I am unsure of version number, but it was the latest Windows version as of 3/20/2022.
Type of devices currently running on the Sync chain in question:
Windows laptops, android mobile
Additional Information:
I am not sure if my sync chain permissions prior to recovery attempts were originally more greedy and included shared bookmarks at some point earlier only.
