Description of the issue: When you press Ctrl + Shift + N, the private window doesn’t open instantaneously, it takes a second. Also putting a private window on a different virtual desktop, makes it lag and stutter - if you drag that window back to the main desktop on top of the regular window opened, it works completely fine.
How can this issue be reproduced?
- Open Brave normally
- Press “New Private Window” or Ctrl+Shift+N
- Open a video on YouTube on main normal window (1080p60fps specifically)
- Drag Private Window to a different virtual desktop. Open several tabs and try navigating normally.
Expected result: Private window should open instantly and also not log on usage on a different virtual desktop.
Brave Version( check About Brave
): Brave 1.79.126 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Additional Information:
I am currently on almost the latest version of EndeavourOS, will update the system Sunday night as I always do, however, I have noticed this behavior since a while ago and it was even 1.78 version of Brave (or the previous 1.79.xxx). Edit: I forgot to say I am on Wayland, but I also tried X11 and it didn’t make any difference.
DE is KDE, current version 6.3.5 - I suppose it’ll turn 6.4 on Sunday when I update.
Things I have tried:
- Simply reinstalling Brave (yay -Rs brave-bin and then yay brave-bin)
- Removing Brave with -Rns command as well as manually deleting the complete user data (I was trying to make sure that everything got deleted and not built from leftover files) - I also tried to reinstall with cleanBuild on yay.
- Tried different browser to make sure it was or wasn’t just Brave. All the other browsers were completely normal - these included Firefox, Vivaldi, Falkon and Konqueror (lol).
I have tried to replicate the issue again. It seems sites with a lot of pictures or media affects it the most, and if you remain “still” for a moment and then try to scroll again or use the window, it stutters/lags. I hope this is noticeable on the clip I recorded here on THIS LINK
Thank you very much.
