Brave Private Window is Slow and Falls Over

*Over the last couple of months using Brave and the Private window has become unusable.
Doing a search: “brave private window slow to load” takes over 30 seconds and falls over.
Doing a search: “brave browser forums” the same
Even entering a full website URL can have the same effect.
Clicking from a Bookmark with Private set shortcut takes 26 seconds to load a website.
Often loading without the Private window is usually faster and acceptable. But I only want to use Private Window.

Closing the Private window and everything tends to be quicker. I have a copy of TOR and if I use that, it is instantaneous by comparison. (NOT THE BRAVE TOR ADDIN, THE ACTUAL TOR DOWNLOAD.)
I have a VPN loaded at all times. Also, ALL history is deleted on closing Brave.

Sometimes Brave is basically unusable.

I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing these issues.

  1. open brave
    2.enter search
    3.press …then sit and wait

Expected result: Hopefully a reason/cause and solution
