I think this is a bug/known issue and Brave is working on a fix. Linked a Brave GitHub issue report below that I think relates. It looks like they are trying to get the fix scheduled for the maintenance release on May 11 or the version release on May 24. Release schedules are not set in stone, so it may be delayed.
