New Tab screen is missing three icon shortcuts

On the New Tab screen there used to be three icons on the bottom right side. The middle one was for bookmarks. See attached jpg
How do I get them back?

Seconding this request.

This was especially useful for Bookmarks since accessing from the side menu would cause browser to freeze due to large folder size / drop down menu

Also History / Settings could be accessed with 1 click instead of 2 with side panel

Also would like to see these icons restored. Very useful.

I agree, bad decision to remove those icons and to ruin the customer experience…

That being said, you can create links in the “top sites” section, for example, with URLs chome://bookmarks and chrome://history (chrome, not brave) they will open the respective pages.

Hi alikim

Thank you for the reply.
I tried to put a bookmark link there, but it did not work, as that is the link I wanted.

Gary

works for me, you first click on this button:

then fill in name and URL, press Save:

I had to change the information: brave://bookmarks/ to chrome://bookmarks/
Now it works.
Is there a way to remove the “Add Site”

So how long does it usually take to get a response from the Brave team ?

Or should a new topic be made in the Feature Requests section ?

The Top Sites workaround is pointless for me since I already use the 1st 3 slides for frequented sites so it would take 2 clicks just to get to FAVs/HIST

Usually within 24 hours.
No, as I am okay with the way it is. Just got used to it.

I also posted about this. I did make bookmarks, but I prefer clicking home and having all my options there.

Also, now that I don’t do that, I never go to Home and never see the ads…

Could you please add this to the Customization option for the home page??

Depends what it’s on. If it’s just feedback on things like this topic is/was, then they almost rarely ever respond but they do see it. If it’s issues regarding the browser crashing, things not working as intended, etc then they try to respond as quickly as they can, assuming they see it.

Speaking of which, I know I see you have made another topic for Restore the Bookmarks / History / Settings shortcuts on new tab page

At this point I know it’s an intentional change in design, just like they removed the New Tab Page (NTP) portion in Settings in exchange for having Customize on the NTP itself.

Just so you know, I’ve actually shared your feedback to people at Brave, but I’m not sure if anything will be done about it.

Oh I thought you were part of the Brave team, and thanks for contacting them

Anyway as I said in the topic I created it would be great to just have the option of having them if not by default

This reminds me of the change a few months ago which resulted in an extra click being necessary when Bookmarking - but in that case it was implemented by Chromium and the Brave team reversed it

So you’re saying the change came from the Brave team and not the Chromium one ?

@Smilodon No, not with Brave. I’m just an active user who has spent a lot of time helping people here in his spare time.

Based on what I’ve seen of the design on Chrome/Chromium and knowing what has been said about things in the past, I’m wanting to say that this would be 100% Brave and nothing to do with Chromium. However, as I haven’t spent a lot of time going through Github code and haven’t explicitly heard that said by anyone at Brave, I wouldn’t be able to give that as a definitive answer.
