New Tab Backgrounds Feedback - Mobile

My friend and I agree on one thing when it comes to any kind of developer: The ones who force design choices are surpassed by the ones who give their customers options.

We noticed immediately the change to the New Tab backgrounds on the Brave homepage on our mobile devices the other day, due to their depressing dusky, twilight, nighttime and sunset settings. I have a routine of always scrolling through the news on my device via Brave’s homepage and had many backgrounds I loved from the old roster.

These new ones… well I can’t find a single one that doesn’t feel overcast, gloomy or just plain not to my liking. That’s not what sours me though, what really soured me was searching all throughout the settings and not finding a single option to go back to the old series of photos/backgrounds.

I didn’t want to just disable them entirely because the blinding white background is worse.

My friend, who is a technology and privacy enthusiast strongly dislikes the lack of an option to go back more than he dislikes the images themselves. We’re hoping for mobile users under the “New Tab Page” category below “Show Background Images” that Brave will add a “Use Old Backgrounds” setting.

I’d rather see again the desert vista, beachside pier and the older backgrounds again.

Usually have Firefox as default, but opened Brave on Android and there’s a nice mountainous image. Can’t see what’s depressing with that.

I’m not sure what the situation is like on mobile, but the desktop browser gives you the option of choosing your own background image or setting it to a solid color that isn’t blinding white. I do wish we could upload more than one custom image on a rotation, similar to “Brave Backgrounds.”

There’s also the nuclear option of installing an extension to override the new tab experience outright.

Anyway, I’m guessing the mobile app is more limited. Would like to see feature parity someday.
