MSN.com index page just started acting strange. When I click on a link in the body of the page an image that I’ve included appears. When I click on the image the page returns to the start page. The page works properly in the private window in addition other browsers including Chrome. Also turning off Brave Shield doesn’t help.

Well, @MemyselfI, this suggests that it’s an extension you have on your browser that’s causing the issue. By default, Private Windows don’t run with any extensions. So that’s where I’d suggest we start. Could you try disabling or removing your extensions and see if the issue goes away?
If that doesn’t do it, next thing is to try to clear cookies.
Yep you got it. I disabled (then uninstalled) “super dark mode” which solved the problem.
