Mozilla: "By adopting Chromium, Microsoft hands over control of even more of online life to Google"

"From a social, civic and individual empowerment perspective ceding control of fundamental online infrastructure to a single company is terrible. "

This is what Mozilla wrote a few days ago.

With Opera, Yandex and Vivaldi also running on Chromium, what is Brave’s position?

This isn’t Brave’s position, it’s mine. That blog post is hyperbolic. Everyone who uses Chromium in their software makes their own decisions about what to include, which features to build, and so on. Google doesn’t “control” the folks who use Chromium. Just like any other mature open source project, downstream users are responsible for what they build.

The post is by Mozilla, a strong player - and for many also a trusted player. Assuming that their argument is indeed hyperbolic, why doesn’t Brave communicate these issues better, particularly to a non-specialist audience?
