𝕏 Microphone Spying

I had 𝕏 open on my laptop in Brave on linux while on Discord app. What I said in discord was on my trending on 𝕏 in < 10 mins. I went to Brave settings and my Mic for 𝕏 was on Ask. I’d allowed it previously for a Space Talk. I’d closed the Browser, rebooted multiple times before reopening Brave and loading 𝕏. Just a heads up.

Twitter learns what you are interested in based on what you view, and who you engage with, and what their interests are. It does not need the microphone to accomplish this. If your friends on Discord and the people you watch on 𝕏 are interested in the same subject, it does not mean that Brave and 𝕏 are spying on you. It appears you are insinuating that:

1. Brave does not inform you about a web site’s use of the microphone

2. Twitter (𝕏) attempts to record your speech through the browser without your knowledge & consent

I see no evidence for either one here… however, I do recall some reports where the Facebook mobile app was accused of performing secret recordings β€”but the speech was converted to text by the app before it left the device.

You did not disclose which Linux distro you are using or what the topic of discussion was, so I can only make generic recommendations here… but in any case, you should learn how to monitor microphone usage in Linux before you suggest that Brave or 𝕏 is violating your privacy. Here are some resources to help you get started:

I posted what occured. Your accusations and false information are irrelevant.

That is just a lot of hypocrisy: your original post is practically β€œirrelevant” because it contains unsubstantiated accusations in the form of insinuation. You also neglected to indicate what I said here that constitutes β€œfalse information”. I gave you some tips on how to start monitoring the microphone activity on Linux, but your response demonstrates that you are more interested in disparaging Brave or Twitter than determining whether the coincidence was random or relevant. I never said that the synchronicity did not occur, but your response falsely insinuates that I did. Like your original post, it’s just another unsubstantiated accusation – and you accuse me of what you are doing yourself.
