Manual updater and a binary archive for general Linux?

Firefox can be downloaded as an archive. The binary updates itself and you can run it from everywhere. This means, without any installation, on any PC, on systems without access to the system files (Tails, immutable Distros (SteamOS, Fedora Atomic, etc.))

Does Brave support this? I assume not. Why not?

It would allow to use Brave on any random distro. Instead, currently many people will use the Flatpak, which is insecure.

Firefoxes implementation is bad, as there is no install.sh putting a desktop entry into ~/.local/share/applications/brave-browser.desktop
