MacOS Brave download speed throttled

Speedtest performance of Brave Browser on Mac is very poor. I have 1GB ATT fiber.

I am running MacOS 10.14.6 on Brave 1.44.105. When I run speedtest I get abysmal download performace:

When I run Firefox on the same system I get 10X download and similar upload.

I do not use a proxy. I have restarted computer and router with no change. The speedtest performance to my router is as expected (1GB). This has been repeatable for many days.

Expected result:
Similar performance on both browsers

1.44.105

Thank you for reaching out and for the detailed report. Very strange behavior — on my end I get the following results, with much slower internet speeds:

I’m wondering how many tabs/sites you have running in Brave at this time/while testing, as well as whether or not you have any extensions installed in the browser? Certain sites, apps and extensions can interfere with speedtest results.

When I ran the test I had 1 tab open - the speedtest. It was a new instance of Brave with no other tabs/sites.
