Loss of BAT, profile

I had been using Brave for probably over a year, and had accumulated 100+ BAT, worth over $20. On 02/26 I started up my computer only for Brave to behave as if it was brand new. I was prompted to make an account and I did, with my BAT nowhere to be found. I feel like the recommendation to attempt to log into my previous account but really I don’t remember being prompted to make one, and if I did I would have used the email that I have used for this account! Could someone provide me some insight?
